MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State defeats George Mason

Herceg records first career double-double

Redemption finally came for the Ball State men's volleyball team.

In its second meeting against George Mason this season, Ball State got revenge for its loss in the first match. The Cardinals turned the table on the Patriots, winning 25-20, 25-27, 25-11, 25-17 on Saturday at Worthen Arena.

Outside attacker Greg Herceg had a match full of career marks. Herceg recorded his first career double-double against George Mason with 13 kills and 13 digs to go along with three blocks and an ace.

After the Cardinals gave up 26 kills and 16 kills to Max McFarland and Eric Lucas, respectively, in their first meeting against the Patriots, they made it a priority to stop each players' attacks Saturday.

McFarland was held to eight kills while Lucas tied for the team lead in kills with 11.

Ball State middle attacker Anders Nelson collected 11 kills on the night, while seldom-used Lee Meyer tallied 12 digs.

Ball State will finish its homestand against Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. Ball State defeated Sacred Heart in a close match in late January.
