INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indiana prosecutor says one of his deputies has resigned after admitting that he sent an e-mail to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker suggesting the Republican fake an attack on himself to discredit public employee unions.
Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper says Carlos Lam resigned Thursday.
Cooper says Lam initially denied sending the Feb. 19 email that suggests Walker have someone posing as a union sympathizer fake an attack on him, perhaps using a gun. Lam originally said someone had hacked his account, but later acknowledged sending it.
A message seeking comment was left Thursday at a telephone listing for Lam.
The email, which was obtained by The Associated Press, was sent amid daily protests at the Wisconsin Capitol against Walker's plan to strip nearly all public employee collective bargaining rights.
