Ball State appears to have completed the majority of its nonconference schedules for the next few seasons.
According to a tweet from the Colgate football team's account and the Colgate sports website, the Cardinals will face the Raiders in a 2014 home game.
Ball State athletic director Tom Collins confirmed that the game would take place but declined to discuss other details of the contract Monday night.
The Oct. 25 matchup would be Ball State's final game of the nonconference schedule that season.
Colgate is a member of the Football Championship Subdivision. Ball State will also play a second FCS school, Illinois State, as the 2014 season opener.
By NCAA rule, the Cardinals would be able to count only one win toward bowl eligibility if they were to defeat the Redbirds and the Raiders. Ball State was in a similar situation after beating Southeast Missouri State to open the 2010 season but lost to Liberty.
The sole nonconference opening over the next four seasons is in 2013. It is also the only year without a game scheduled against a Bowl Championship Subdivision opponent.
