INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana General Assembly has a busy week ahead as it makes up for time lost last week because of a winter storm that hit much of the state.
Several Senate committees are being scheduled for Friday, which is typically a day when lawmakers are not at the Statehouse. The House may also schedule committee meetings on Fridays in upcoming weeks.
Lawmakers canceled two days of meetings last week because a winter storm made travel difficult.
Lawmakers have plenty of contentious issues to discuss next week, including a new state budget, a proposed constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, bills downsizing local government and a plan to change teacher evaluation procedures.
The General Assembly's 2011 session began in January and is slated to end in late April.
