Students who want food other than the usual dining locations on campus can go to a free cultural lunch today at the Multicultural Center.
The cultural lunch is held the first Friday of every month Ketwana Schoos, assistant director of the Multicultural Center, said.
The food for the lunch will be "soul food"—— fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes and a dessert.
"This month (the food) is from Black History Month," Schoos said. "If a student approaches us and is from abroad and wants to pick something they can or we revert back to the National Heritage Month."
"The lunch will be very casual and laid back," she said. "We operate on a first come, first serve basis."
Lunch is served at noon until the food is gone.
There will also be a discussion about African-American culture.
"You know you're going to eat good," Schoos said. "If we are highlighting a specific student or culture month you might learn something."
The center typically gets between 30-50 students for the culture lunches, depending on factors such as the weather, Schoos said.
