The Miller College of Business is bringing G. Steven Burrill to talk to Ball State students Friday. The founder and chief executive officer of Burrill and Co. will speak at 9 a.m. in L.A. Pittenger Student Center in Cardinal Hall A.
Tamara Estep, director of external relations for the Miller College of Business, said the topic would focus on biotechnology, the growth of emerging markets in respect to healthcare, market trends, revolutionary technology and innovation towards health care solutions.
John Horowitz, associate professor of economics, said students could benefit from the lecture.
"Students who are interested in health care need to consider what future changes in technology in health care will have on what jobs are available," he said. "Mr. Burrell's talk will help students better understand what some of these jobs may be."
Burrill was recently profiled on Forbes.com for his directorship of DepoMed, Inc. and Targacept, Inc.— two pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Prior to founding Burrill and Co., Burrill was partner and international chairman of Enrst & Young LLP's manufacturing, high technology and life sciences industry practice.
There will also be opportunity for a question and answer session after the lecture.
