Ball St. vetoes 3rd Fort Wayne charter school
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Ball State University has vetoed a charter school operator's plan to open what would have been its third charter school in Fort Wayne.
The interim director of Ball State's charter school office told The Journal Gazette he revoked the Imagine Bridge Academy's charter because its latest proposal did not include a provision calling for the school to work with local colleges and universities.
Ball State's Robert Marra says that component had previously been approved.
Imagine Schools regional director Guy Platter says he did not recall Ball State making a specific formal request for the board to strengthen the proposal's higher education element. He says he doesn't understand the rationale for rejecting the request.
Imagine Schools operates 73 schools in 12 states and the District of Columbia.
