In a game that was as sloppy as a family room on Christmas morning, Ball State found itself with a comfortable 78-59 win over St. Louis University Thursday evening.
By the end of the game 40 turnovers had been committed, 22 by the Billikens and 18 by the Cardinals. But it was the second half that determined the outcome of the game.
After going into the locker room trailing 26-23, Ball State used a quick 7-0 run, five of the points scored by senior guard Ty'ronda Benning to take a 30-26 lead.
St. Louis managed to tie the game at 38 with just over 13 minutes left to play, but the rest of the game belonged to Ball State.
Junior guard Megan Craft made a 3-pointer at the 12:04 mark to spark a run of 12 unanswered points for the Cardinals and pushed the lead to 53-39.
The Cardinals lead never less than 12 points the remainder of the game.
Senior Emily Maggert scored 26 points, shooting 80 percent from the field. She also grabbed six rebounds.
Benning finished with 20 points after scoring only two in the first half. Senior guard Ebony Jackson scored 11 points.
Freshman guard Brandy Woody finished with nine points with six assists.
The win snaps the Cardinals four game losing streak and marks their biggest win of the season.
