Pete Lembo was officially announced as Ball State's next football coach in a press release Sunday night. The hiring ends a 26-day search after Stan Parrish was fired last month.
The move was initially reported Thursday by 247sports.com, but was not confirmed until Sunday. Lembo will be formally introduced at a news conference Monday at 10 a.m.
Lembo has been a head coach for 10 years, five at Elon and five at Lehigh. Both schools are members of the Football Championship Subdivision. He has a 79-36 career record and made the playoffs three times.
Lembo has never played or coached in the Football Bowl Subdivision, where Ball State plays.
Lembo reached the FCS playoffs three times, twice at Lehigh and most recently in 2009 at Elon. It was the first playoff appearance for the Phoenix. Lembo is 1-3 in playoff games.
Terms of Lembo's contract were not released in the press release.
