For the first time this season the Ball State women's volleyball team swept the Mid-American Conference West Division weekly awards.
Libero Alyssa Rio won the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week, while middle blocker Kelsey Brandl was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week.
Rio had a career-high 44 digs in Ball State's 3-2 win against Western Michigan on Friday night, including nine digs in the match's fifth set.
Brandl had a match-high 19 kills against Western Michigan. She was also efficient on offense with match-high .419 attack percentage. Brandl led the Ball State in serving with a team-high three service aces this weekend. Two of those aces came in Ball State's 3-0 sweep of Northern Illinois on Saturday night.
The two conference victories moves Ball State into first place in the MAC West and gives Ball State its first 20-win season since 2005.
