'My Name Is Jerry' star visits Ball State

Doug Jones, an actor and Ball State alumnus, returned to his alma mater Thursday to sign copies of his new DVD.

Jones had a table set up in the Art and Journalism Building from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. to sign autographs, talk with students and give hugs.

"My Name Is Jerry" was released Tuesday. Students could buy the DVD for $10 on Tuesday and $15 today.

Ball State's College of Fine Arts and Institute for Digital Entertainment and Education helped in the filming and production of "My Name Is Jerry" with Clothespin Films. Some students even stared as extras.

Students of Ball State's marketing and management program set up a table today to sell DVDs and T-shirts.

Senior marketing major Rachel Gray said promoting the film has been a great experience, something she never expected to have in college.

"This has been the first class that we are actually in the real world rather than just taking tests," she said. "We actually work for someone. We are even working with people in L.A."

For an independent film, "My Name Is Jerry" has been a success. According to senior telecommunications major Emma Smith, only 5 percent of independent films are distributed nationwide and "My Name Is Jerry" is one of them.

By Thursday afternoon, Gray said 158 DVDs have been sold with 132 of those sales being today in the Atrium. Jones signed more than 120 copies of "My Name Is Jerry," about 20 copies of other movies he's stared in and a bowling pin, which was a prop in "My Name Is Jerry."

"My Name Is Jerry" can be bought at osirisent.com or amazon.com. "My Name Is Jerry" is also available via Netflix instant queues on Netflix.
