The NCAA delivered good news to Ball State's women's volleyball program earlier this week when it ruled freshman Mindy Marx will be eligible to play this season.
Marx, who was ineligible after questions arose regarding whether an eighth grade class was duplicated, will be able to play with the team this weekend at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Cougar Classic. Ball State opens play Friday night against The Citadel.
"I think everything is pretty cleared up right now," said Pat Quinn, Ball State's NCAA compliance director. "As far as I know, there are no pending eligibility cases for us."
Marx, an athletic 6-foot middle blocker, was on PrepVolleyball.com's 2010 Senior Aces "150" list. She was one of five freshmen in the 2010 recruiting class, which former Ball State coach Dave Boos assembled before leaving the program to become an assistant coach at Florida in March.
