INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A group of Indiana lawmakers and criminal justice officials will meet this week to discuss whether the state should ban "sexting" among teens.
The Indiana Senate passed a bill earlier this year that would have made some practices of sending racy photos or messages by cell phone a juvenile offense. But Indiana House Judiciary Chairwoman Linda Lawson said the issue needed more study.
So the Criminal Law and Sentencing Policy Study Committee that Lawson chairs will take up the issue at a Wednesday afternoon meeting at the Statehouse.
The National Conference of State Legislatures says lawmakers in 16 states have considered sexting laws this year.
