Muncie Fire Department is still investigating the cause of a fire that caused an estimated $80,000 worth of damage.
Cpt. Mark Adams said firefighters arrived to 800 Ashland Ave. a few minutes after the 8:19 a.m. call and had the fire contained by about8:47 a.m.
"I thought the guys did a great stop for where it was at," he said. "When we arrived, at first I wondered if we were going to save the roof."
Thirteen firefighters worked on the fire at the split house with two pumper trucks, an aerial truck and a rescue truck. The seven people who lived in the house made it out with no injuries.
Adams said the fire caused about $60,000 in damage to the structure and another $20,000 to the contents of the house.
The house that caught fire is next to an empty lot where a house, which was rented by four students, caught fire last spring.
