In its best start to a tournament of the fall season, the men's golf team is currently in first place at the 17-team Bearcat Invitational at The Traditions Golf Course in Herbron, Ky.
Managing a 296 and 293 in the first 36 holes, the Cardinals hold a two-stroke lead over Bowling Green State University. Ball State is also ahead of Mid-American Conference teams Miami University and Ohio University.
Junior Eric Steger is Ball State's top golfer with an individual score of 145. Steger's 72 and 73 ties him for third place overall. All five golfers that comprise Ball State's squad are in the top 25 individually.
The final 18 holes will be played today.
