WOMEN'S GOLF: Cards finish second in home tournament

After leading in the Cardinal Classic Tournament on Saturday, the women's golf team finished the tournament in second place.

Eastern Michigan University overcame a five-stroke deficit to win the 16-team tournament Sunday.

Sophomore Kristtini Cain tied for ninth with a 149, leading fellow teammates: Brittany Kelly, Kirsty O'Connor and Katie Windlan who each tied for 14th with a 151.

"Everyone on the team shot in the seventies, it was a good tournament but we had higher expectations." Kelly said. "Individually I didn't perform to my potential."

The tournament's individual champion was Eastern Michigan freshman Emily Podzielinski, who finished three under par. The Noblesville-native helped the Eagles to their lowest 36-hole score in program history.

Ball State defeated fellow Mid-American Conference foes Ohio University, Western Michigan University and Northern Illinois University.
