WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Transfer to have surgery Friday to repair torn Achille's tendon

A Ball State University women's basketball player is looking at a potential season ending surgery Friday.

Junior transfer from Indiana University, Ebony Jackson walked into her Elementary Education 200 class Tuesday in an air cast and on crutches, according to a member of the class. When asked, Jackson said she tore her Achilles' tendon and was going to have surgery later in the week.

According to Jackson's Facebook page, she will be having the surgery Friday and she expects to be out between three and four months, which would force her to miss more than half of the season.

The sports information department was unavailable to comment on Jackson's injury or surgery despite repeated attempts by the Ball State Daily News.

During her freshman season at Indiana in 2007-2008, Jackson averaged 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in an average of 8.7 minutes per game.

Per NCAA transfer rules, Jackson is eligible to begin playing for Ball State during the second semester of this year.
