UPDATE: Ball State knew about positive tests weeks ago

The swine flu virus has found its way to Ball State University, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Kay Bales said.

The university has two confirmed cases of swine flu, she said. Bales did not have exact information about when the students contracted the virus, but said both students have since recovered.

Kent Bullis, director of the Amelia T. Wood Health Center, said the first positive test occurred the week before classes started. The second was discovered during the first week of classes

Bales said one person lived in a university residence hall, but would not say which one.Bales said she would not give the students' names or personal information.

Purdue University reported 47 likely swine flu cases on Sept. 7, according to The Associated Press.
