The Minnetrista Cultural Center is holding an interactive art exhibit that concentrates on Indiana's natural beauty and landscapes. "Open Space: Art about the Land" is raising awareness for The Red-Tail Conservancy, which was created to preserve and protect East Central Indiana's open spaces.
The exhibition facility will appear at three locations within the service area of Red-tail Conservancy and will retain a 30 percent commission on any sales including purchase awards. A portion of this commission from sales will go to the conservancy.
"The art exhibit is meant to celebrate the land as well as its conservation," Minnetrista Director of Collections Karen Vincent said.
"Open Space: Art about the Land" is an art gallery designed to display works from all types of artists. Traditionally, Indiana landscapes are portrayed, but there are items that are more contemporary. Photography, jewelry and ceramic works will also be on display.
There are many different interpretations of the land. Some artwork displays abstract creations that represent Indiana.
Minnetrista's "Art about the Land" will be open for guests on Sept. 26 through Oct. 25.
"On Saturday, we invite artists to come paint anywhere on our campus," Vincent said.
Open Space is an opportunity for artists to paint outdoors and not just use a still-life, and canvases will be set up at different locations for all artists to add their own creativity, she said.
