Student organizations on campus are getting ready for the "Best Week" of the year, which is the theme of Ball State University's Homecoming Week.
The Homecoming Steering Committee had its first meeting Wednesday night at the Alumni Center, where information about this year's events was shared with the student organizations that attended.
Today, beginning at 9 a.m., Air Jam entry forms will be accepted, and only the first 20 forms will be accepted.
Junior dance major Brooke Jendrusik said this is going to be her third time participating in Homecoming with the Ball State University singers. She said she expects to have as much fun as she did in past years and is excited to see what the other participating organizations have to offer.
"We usually have a good turnout," Jendrusik said. "Freshmen in our group are always very enthusiastic; they want to meet people and have a great time."
This is Ball State's 83rd Homecoming Week. This year's theme, "Best Week Ever," was the result of brainstorming from the Steering Committee, adviser for Homecoming Week, Kate Webber said.
There were minor changes in the activities planned for this year's Homecoming Week, General Chairman Samantha Adamczewski said. She said the committee wanted a different angle this year. They did this by eliminating Music on McKinley and adding flag football and a scavenger hunt called "Where in the World is Charlie?"
The budget for the Homecoming Steering Committee is decided through donations, sponsorships and the Alumni Center.
The Homecoming Steering Committee started working after the second weekend of March, met during the summer and every week once classes started.
"We have worked a lot to bring this year's Homecoming," Adamczewski said. "We are now a happy family of 20, and everything is coming out great."
This is Adamczewski's second year working for the committee.
"It's a different year," she said. "An exciting opportunity to reach out to students. We are thrilled to see how this week turns out."
