Each week, sports editor Matt Hudson alongside assistant sports editors Teddy Cahill and Andrew Walker will preview and pick the Mid-American conference football games for the week.
Last week went mostly as planned in the MAC, with the exception of Northern Illinois University's 28-21 upset of Big Ten opponent Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
Other than the Huskies' win, the Big Ten had its way with the MAC, as the University of Michigan defeated Eastern Michigan University 45-17, Ohio State University defeated the University of Toledo 38-0, Penn State University defeated Temple University 31-6 and Indiana University defeated the University of Akron 38-21.
You can check out how we did in week three below this week's picks.
Week 4 Games and Picks
Teddy CahillNo. 8 Boise State at Bowling GreenRanked No. 8 in the nation, Boise State University will be the highest ranked team Bowling Green State University has ever hosted. The Falcons have beaten four ranked teams in school history, but never a top-10 team.
It will be Boise State's first trip east this year, but that shouldn't be a problem. The Broncos are 3-0 with wins over then-No. 16 University of Oregon, Mid-American Conference bottom feeder Miami University and conference foe Fresno State University.
Teddy's Pick: Boise State
Buffalo at TempleNeither team started the year quite as strong as they would have liked. The University at Buffalo enters at 1-2 and Temple University is 0-2.
Buffalo leads the all-time series 12-1 and is led into Philadelphia by quarterback Zach Maynard. In his first year as the starter, Maynard has thrown for six touchdowns and 743 yards.
Meanwhile, Temple's quarterback, Vaughn Charlton, is 18th in the country with 261 passing yards per game. He also has thrown for two touchdowns.
Teddy's Pick: Buffalo
Matt HudsonAkron at Central MichiganThe University of Akron boasts the best rush defense in the MAC, while Central Michigan University's Dan LeFevour enters the game with the most passing yards in MAC history.
Central Michigan also has the reigning MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week in Antonio Brown. Brown averaged 37.7 yards per return and a touchdown on three punts returns last week against Alcorn State.
Matt's Pick: Central Michigan
Miami (OH) at Kent StateMiami University announced Tuesday it will be starting redshirt freshman Zac Dysert at quarterback after leading his team to a pair of touchdowns in as many drives in the fourth quarter of last week's 28-26 loss at Western Michigan University.
Kent State University will most likely also be starting a freshman quarterback in Spencer Keith. Keith got his first starting nod last week against Iowa State, where he went 21-for-32 for 255 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Matt's Pick: Miami (OH)
Idaho at Northern IllinoisNorthern Illinois University is fresh off a 28-21 upset over Purdue University last week in which the Huskies racked up 454 yards of total offense.
The University of Idaho enters the game after beating former Ball State coach Brady Hoke's San Diego State University team 34-20. Idaho ran for 147 yards in the game, while allowing only 55 rushing yards and outgained San Diego State by nearly 100 total yards on offense.
Matt's Pick: Idaho
Andrew WalkerOhio at TennesseeMost likely, the University of Tennessee is looking for someone to just tear apart at this point of the season, and unfortunately for Ohio University, the Bobcats appear to be that opponent.
The Volunteers (1-2) opened their season with an expected 63-7 romp over Western Kentucky University, but have since suffered a tough 19-15 home loss to UCLA and a 23-13 loss to rival and reigning national champions University of Florida.
Ohio (2-1), meanwhile, will look to build off senior quarterback's career day of 14-of-27 passing with 236 yards and three touchdowns in the Bobcats' 28-10 win against Cal Poly last week. Cal Poly, however, doesn't exactly have Southeastern Conference-esque speed in she secondary
Andrew's Pick: Tennessee
Toledo at Florida InternationalThe good news for the University of Toledo (1-2) is that the toughest part of its schedule is over with. The Rockets were outscored 90-31 in their two losses to Big Ten opponents Purdue and Ohio State University.
The bad news is that senior quarterback Aaron Opelt needs to show some resiliency after opening the season with impressive control of his offense, only to look like a middle schooler last week against the Buckeyes. Toledo also can't turn the ball over four times like they did last season to Florida International University (0-2), who defeated the Rockets 35-16 at Toledo.
Andrew's Pick: Florida International
Hofstra at Western MichiganHofstra University (2-1), an FCS school, was thrashed 47-0 last week by FCS No. 1 University Richmond - the national champions last season - and things aren't looking up for the Pride this week, who will be playing their third FBS opponent since 2006 in Western Michigan.
Put Western Michigan in the same boat as Tennessee as a program looking to beat up on a lowly opponent. The Broncos (1-2) played Indiana University tough in a 23-19 loss, and also lost 31-7 to the University of Michigan. The Broncos led 35-0 in the third quarter in last week's 48-26 win against Miami, and senior quarterback Tim Hiller had four touchdown passes against the RedHawks.
Andrew's Pick: Western Michigan
