The University of North Texas jumped out to an early lead against Ball State University in Thursday's opener.
The Mean Green lead the Cardinals 7-0 after the first quarter. Freshman quarterback Riley Dodge led his team on a scoring drive on the visitor's first possession, ending with a five-yard touchdown run from Lance Dunbar.
Ball State freshman quarterback Kelly Page misfired on his first pass, but connected with Toriel Gibson for his first completion later in the drive.Ball State is driving with the ball on North Texas' 18 yard line at the end of the period.
