FOOTBALL: Auburn pulls away from Ball State in second quarter

AUBURN, Ala. - The quick start by Ball State University was erased by Auburn University in the second quarter.

The Tigers scored 26 points in the quarter to take a 33-10 lead into halftime.

Quarterback Chris Todd completed his first eight passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns. At the half, he is 15-of-18 for 212 yards and three scores. Running back Onterio McCalebb rushed eight times for 83 yards and a touchdown to lead Auburn.

Ball State scored three minutes into the contest, but was able to get little going offensively after. The Cardinals added a field goal with 2:35 remaining in the half after taking over at the Auburn 17 yard line.

For the second time this season, the Cardinals surrendered a safety. Running back MiQuale Lewis was dropped in his own end zone for a three-yard loss by linebacker Josh Bynes.

Lewis has rushed 11 times for 28 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Kelly Page is 11-of-19 for 59 yards. He has also fumbled once.
