This week's best:Play of the weekForward Hannah Jones (field hockey) - scored the winning goal in the Cardinals' opener at Davidson College. With 25 minutes left in the game, the junior put back a rebound to give Ball State a 2-1 lead and its first win of the year.
Player of the weekBrittany McGinnis (women's volleyball) - the sophomore setter for the Cardinals was named to the Purdue University Mortar Board Challenge All-Tournament team this weekend after posting 19 kills, 22 digs and 35 assists in losses to Purdue, the University of Dayton and Coastal Carolina University.
Quote of the week"Three down lineman, that's a man's work. I feel like this is a little bit easier. You have a lot more help and a lot more one-on-one situations." - Junior defensive end Robert Eddins on the defensive switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 system.
Fan's choiceJulie Breivogel (women's volleyball) - With 37 votes and 58 percent of the poll, the senior outside hitter won this year's first Fans Choice poll. With a career-high 22 kills in a loss to Coastal Carolina, Breivogel topped Brooke MacGillivary of the field hockey team, who had 16 votes.
