Come Saturday at the Ohio University Invitational, the Ball State University cross country team will compete in a meet of firsts.
It will mark its first race on the Mid-American Conference Championship course. The team will compete in its first 6K race of the season. And, this will mark the first meet the team will be without top finisher Ali Bishel during the 2009 season.
Bishel, who placed first in the Indiana Intercollegiates last week, has a previous academic commitment and will be unavailable for the race on Saturday.
The Cardinals will instead be lead by senior Sara Kehe, who was the Cardinals second fastest runner during the Intercollegiates placing 25th overall.
In Saturday's Invitational the team will face MAC opponents in Kent State University and Ohio University, along with four other schools including: Cleveland State University, the University of Dayton, Robert Morris University and West Virginia Wesleyan.
The Cardinals look to rebound after putting up sixth-place finish during the Intercollegiates a week ago.
