Banjo performance overall winner of the Student Scholarship Talent Search

Tonight's Student Scholarship Talent Search at Emens Auditorium was an overwhelming success, according to event organizers.

Sophomore Josh Coffey, a nursing major, walked away as the overall winner of the competition after performing a medley of songs on the banjo.

"I thought my performance went really well," he said. "I worried about my stage presence, but I made up a hip thrust. I was goofy to keep the crowd involved."

Other winners included the Student Dance Association's interpretation of "Expect Us," Logan Campbell's acoustic rendition of "Alright," Jennifer Rife's original composition of "My Senior Song," Katie Friedel's female vocals with "Say the Word," Noel Kunz's freestyle yo-yo performance, Noteworthy's musical group performance of "Seven Bridges Road," and Joe Redman's males vocals in "Run Away with Me."

"Everyone put a lot of hours into everything and then it came together to make a great show," chairwoman Sheri Niekamp said. "I couldn't decide who was the best and had no idea who would win."
