Ball State's student enrollment increases by 4 percent

Ball State University announced Monday that its student enrollment for the Fall Semester has increased about 4 percent from last year school.

This semester there are 17,627 students at Ball State, an increase by 726 students from the 2008-09 school year.

"I would consider it significant, obviously serving 726 students is an important task," Tom Taylor, vice president of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications, said. "Overall, it's less than a 5 percent increase, but certainly it's important."

Along with the overall enrollment increase, the amount of Honors College freshmen increased by 54 students. The 343 students in the Honors College freshmen class is also one of the largest classes this decade.

In addition, the number of Ball State graduate students and international students from last school year both increased by about 100 students.
