The Village Green Record Store is throwing its fourth annual Back to School Extravaganza, a free all-ages show full of live bands from the Midwest.
VGR has smaller shows year-round and produces two larger shows as well. Last year, the back to school festival had about 350 fans in attendance.
Owner Travis Harvey said he's hoping to create a good vibe in the community.
"We are trying many new things on this show, we are hoping to bring kids out early with the Seedy Seeds and Jookabox playing early midday sets," Harvey said.
Last year was the first time sophomore Evan West attended the show.
"There wasn't a lot of things to do on the weekend, so I came to the Back to School Extravaganza for the first time last year," he said. "The bands got bigger and better towards the end of the event and more people started showing up too. Jookabox was my favorite band because his live show is an event in itself. There was so much crowd participation and he really pumped up the crowd."
Jake Selvey, 16, also went to the show last year and enjoyed the atmosphere.
"I really dig the folk band Head and Toe from last year," Selvey said. "My favorite thing about the event was the eerie and reminiscence vibe of Woodstock but obviously smaller."
