WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State's winless streak continues, sweep by Dayton

Trailing one set to the University of Dayton (2-0) less than 24 hours after suffering a 3-0 loss to No. 19 Purdue University the Ball State University women's volleyball team (0-2) picked up their game.

Despite hanging tough early on in the second set Ball State still fell 3-0 to Dayton 25-17, 25-16, 25-14 on Saturday in West Lafeyette.

The two squads traded the lead six times and had nine ties midway through in the second set. Tied at 12, the Cardinals looked to be in position to go the distance and compete for their first set victory of the young season. That's when Dayton turned it up though.

Ripping off six of seven points the Flyers pulled away to a 25-16 victory.

In the final set, Ball State fell behind early and trailed all match long before falling 25-14. Alisha Green notched seven kills on 29 swings to lead the way offensively for the Cardinals. Sophomore libero Christie Waters and senior Julie Breivogel finished in a tie with seven digs a piece defensively.

Breivogel also chipped in four kills offensively.

The Cardinals .190 attack percentage in set three was their highest percentage of the match. Meanwhile, Dayton hit a .524 as their highest percentage in set three.
