After reaching the NCAA Tournament in her first season as the Ball State University women's basketball team's head coach, Kelly Packard was rewarded for her efforts Friday.
Athletics director Tom Collins announced Friday that Ball State and Packard agreed to a two-year contract extension that will run through the 2015 season.
The Cardinals finished last season with a program-best 26 wins and won their first Mid-American Conference championship. Ball State also advanced to its first NCAA Tournament in school history and defeated the University of Tennessee in the first round.
Following the season, Packard was named the 2009 Maggie Dixon Division I Rookie Coach of the Year by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Packard was named Ball State's coach in May 2008 and received five-year contract with a base salary of $150,000 per year. Full terms of this newest contract extension have not be released.
