Students gathered in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center on Friday night for Ball State University's annual Quad Bash, one of the last Welcome Week activities.
The event was moved from the Quad to the Student Center last minute after rain came through campus.
"I had a great experience last year at the Quad Bash," senior Aaron Smith said. "I'm a little sad that it is not outside at the Quad this year, but I knew it would be a good time. I was excited to come, I'm having a blast."
The University Program Board, which organized the event, had to make last minute adjustments to accommodate the weather. Dillion Kimmel, UPB president, said some of the activities planned such as the Slip 'n Slide and gladiator jousting were not able to be utilized.
Kimmel said he was stilled pleased, however, with 300 to 400 people who attended.
"[It's] a lot more actually than I expected a couple of hours ago just because you never really know how students are going to respond at a last minute change like that," Kimmel said. "I think a lot of people had a good time. I'm very happy with the turn out that we had."
Compared to last year, Quad Bash had a smaller attendance, even though a campus e-mail was sent to students about the venue change hours before the event started.
"I think certainly more people would have come," Kimmel said. "It would have been bigger and it would have been a little more fun, but given the circumstances I think it still worked out."
The event was still able to serve pizza and have activities such as miniature golf, a bungee run and cornhole.
Uncle Jesse's Hair, a 90s cover band, was also still able to perform.
Sophomore Chelsea Andersen said the band was her favorite part.
"I [had] an absolute blast," she said.
Co-sponsors for Quad Bash were the Homecoming Steering Committee and the Interfraternity Council.
"We came basically to market the greek system in general just so that each greek organization get its name out on campus and people see how involved we really are," junior Brandon Buller of Phi Gamma Delta said.
Kimmel said without the help of the IFC, the event would have not been able to make the transition from outside to inside.
