The newly-renovated Honors College residence hall on Ball State University's campus won't have enough room to house all Honors College students living on-campus this year.
DeHority Complex, which first opened in 1960 as four all-women's halls, will now house 600 students from the Honors College.
Renovations to the building took two years to complete. DeHority Complex reopened during the summer and is ready for occupants.
But since more incoming freshman were accepted into the Honors College than usual this year, the complex won't be large enough to house all of the students in the program.
Alan Hargrave, director of housing and residence life, said the situation will be handled in the same way as usual.
"Overflow students will be placed in Studebaker East, but this isn't a new phenomena," he said. "In the past, overflow students used to be placed in places like LaFollette."
The students who are most likely to be placed in another residence hall are those who have a roommate that isn't in the Honors College, Hargrave said.
Students living in DeHority Complex will enjoy common area spaces, a media room, a music practice area and a recording area. The residence hall will also have a large laundry facility that uses card readers and a fitness room, but doesn't have dining facilities.
A rededication ceremony for DeHority Complex is being planned for Sept. 1.
