The Mid-American Conference coaches don't think this cross country season is the year for Ball State University. Ball State was ranked 11th out of 12 teams in the conference's preseason coaches poll released on Tuesday evening.
The defending MAC champion Miami University was picked as the favorite. The RedHawks return six of its seven runners from last year's championship team.
The Cardinals finished in 11th place at the 2008 MAC Championship. Ball State returns four of top five runners from last season - including senior Sarah Kehe, who finished the 2008 conference championship in 38th place.
Ball State will open its season on Aug. 31 when it hosts the Ball State Invitational at the Elks Country Club.
