Tanning salon to open in the Village in July

Greeks Pizzeria owner branches out to open store on Martin Street

The owner of Greek's Pizzeria in the Village has decided to branch out from pizza to try his luck in the tanning business.

Andy Goth, a Muncie native who bought Greek's from the original owner five years ago, is preparing to open Sunsations Tanning on July 6.

The tanning salon, located on Martin Street in the same building as Scotty's Brewhouse, will offer 12 tanning beds and a teeth whitening service.

The tanning salon is all about comfort and affordability, Goth said.

"We're offering the lowest prices in town," Goth said.

For example, teeth whitening, which can cost between $250 and $350 at the dentist, will only cost $60 at Sunsations.

But Goth said he isn't skimping on the quality of his services.

The salon's tanning beds have won awards worldwide for their high comfort and cool temperatures.

"A lot of people go tanning to relax," Goth said. "Our rooms are a lot more cozy; they have a comfy feel."

Goth said he isn't concerned about opening a business during the economic slump.

"I was watching television last week and they were talking about the top five most successful businesses right now," he said. "One of them was pizza and another was beauty, which includes tanning."

The salon is also looking to hire college students to work. So far, Goth has three employees and wants to hire five more.
