Parents of incoming freshman participating in Ball State University's orientation program will have the opportunity to take a guided tour of the downtown area beginning tomorrow.
Heart of the City, MITS and Ball State partnered for the fourth year to show parents the attractions that downtown holds for visitors.
The tours will be given every Tuesday and Friday starting this Tuesday until orientation ends July 10. Parents will be picked up on campus by a MITS bus at 10:40 a.m. and then dropped off at the Horizon Convention Center in downtown Muncie for the hour-long tour.
On the tour, parents will be shown around restaurants, shops and other places of interest, Cheryl Crowder, program manager for Downtown Development, said. They also will be briefed on the history of downtown and its revitalization that began about ten years ago.
Welcome kits with maps, history and a list of attractions will be given out and a door prize of donations from downtown businesses will be drawn each day.
