MEN'S GOLF: Ball State golfer wins local tournament, two others close behind

A trio of members of the Ball State University men's golf team finished among the top competitors at a weekend invitational in Knightstown.

Eric Steger won the Indiana Golf Association Public Links Championship Sunday at the Royal Hylands Golf Club. Steger shot a 132 to finish two strokes ahead of the second place finisher.

Ball State senior Ross Cosat finished in seventh, five strokes behind Steger. Sophomore Zac Treash finished two strokes behind Cosat, which was good enough for 12th.

Steger had a 74 stroke average for the Cardinals last season. He shot a season low 69 twice during the season and posted five top-20 finishes, including one top-10 finish.
