The USA Football Junior National team opened the inaugural Junior World Championship with a 78-0 win over Team France.
The championship boasts teams from eight countries, spanning four continents and is taking place at Fawcett Stadium, beside the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
Running back David Wilson had 12 carries for 181 yards and four touchdowns, including a 60-yard touchdown run.
Overall, Team USA accumulated 610 yards of offense, while holding Team France to 7 yards of offensive production, a 0.1-yard per play average.
Incoming Ball State University freshman offensive lineman Matt Page did not allow a sack in the game.
A press release by the U.S. National Football team said, "Team USA's offensive line doubled as a people mover, splitting the French defense like a banana at Dairy Queen and then transforming itself into a conveyor belt, helping running backs and the quarterback take an express lane to the end zone."
The game was quickly out of reach for the French as Team USA led 24-0 after the first quarter and 37-0 at the half.
Team France accumulated 38 yards passing but -31 yards rushing. Team USA's defense had 20 tackles for loss, three sacks and two interceptions in the game.
"This was the first time in two weeks that I could actually turn to these guys and say, 'Stop! Don't hit him,'" team USA coach Chuck Kyle said. "I don't like it when games get [one-sided] like that, but I don't know how I could've changed that from happening."
The team will next be in action for their second round game Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Team Mexico. The Mexicans defeated Team Sweden 41-0 in the first round. The winner of the game will play in the championship game Sunday, July 5, while the loser will play in the bronze medal game July 4.
