Eastern Michigan University's women's basketball team was one of 14 teams in the nation to receive a grant from the NCAA to help increase the team's marketing campaign in hopes of raising attendance.
The NCAA gave about $750,000 to the 14 teams and four collegiate conferences to help bring in more fans to women's basketball games. This is the second year of the program and the NCAA said it is hoping that the extra funds will help the teams as well as they did for last year's teams.
Texas Tech University doubled its student attendance for women's basketball home games last season. East Tennessee State University increased attendance by 231 percent, while Florida State University increased attendance by 55 percent and many other grant recipients set single game attendance records.
