A bomb threat was received and resolved within 20 minutes Wednesday at Ball Memorial Hospital.
Members of the Muncie Police Department and the Muncie Fire Department responded to the call at about 8:40 p.m., but were dispersed by about 9 p.m. from the hospital on University Avenue.
A Muncie Police Department official said security guards from the hospital apprehended the person suspected of calling in the threat, but declined to give his name or comment further on the situation.
Lt. Alan Richards from the Muncie Fire Department, who was one of the firefighters responding to the call, also confirmed that his team was dispelled shortly after hospital employees "found the individual who they believe called in the threat."
Neil Gifford, public relations official for Ball Hospital, said the bomb threat was resolved and protocol was followed during the situation.
No evacuation was necessary and no patient care was affected by the threat, he said. In addition to Ball Hospital, no other surrounding buildings were evacuated.
Gifford declined to comment on any other details at this time.
"My hands are tied. I can't say anything else," Gifford said.
