The Ball State University women's basketball team announced Wednesday that fans are invited to celebrate its season with the team at a reception luncheon on May 2.
The Cardinals will have the reception at 12:30 p.m. at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center. The cost is $20 per person to attend. Ball State also said in a press release that fans who cannot attend the luncheon can make a tax deductible contribution to the women's basketball program.
Ball State won the Mid-American Conference Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history this season. Ball State beat the University of Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, marking the first time the Volunteers ever lost in the first or second round.
Ball State won the "Pontiac Game Changing Performance" of NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament for its victory against Tennessee. Coach Kelly Packard won the 009 Maggie Dixon Division I Rookie Coach of the Year award and three players received awards from the Mid-American Conference.
