TRACK AND FIELD: Junior named to conference's academic squad

Ball State University track and field athlete Ali Bishel continued to earn honors today from the Mid-American Conference.

The junior was named to the 2009 Women's Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team today. She was named the Most Outstanding Female Track Performer at the 2009 MAC Championships earlier this season.

Bishel, a landscape architecture major, had a 3.72 grade point average through the Fall Semester. She also was Ball State's only representative of the 31 athletes selected to the academic team.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have played in at least 50 percent of the meets this season. The number of members for the team is team is set for the specific sport or 33 percent of the number of nominees, which ever is greater, and selected by the faculty athletics representative at each MAC school.
