The Ball State University track and field team is attempting to build off the solid foundation it laid at the Miami Invitational when it earned five wins and 17 top-five finishes.
This weekend the Cardinals will run, jump, throw and fly at the Lenny Lyle/Clark Woode Invitational in Louisville, Ky.
The Cardinals are continuing to create a sturdy structure with their third meet of the outdoor season. Last weekend fifth-year senior Amber Williams won the 100-meter race with a 12.05 and 100-meter hurdles, clocking in a 13.84 seconds. Her 100-meter hurdle time passed NCAA regional qualifying time and is the Mid-American Conference best.
Williams' final victory of the meet came from the 200-meter race when she crossed the white line with a 25.18. Freshman Janae Taylor was on the verge of catching the back of Williams' cleats in the 200-meter race when she finished second with a time of 25.24.
Junior Brittany Ade tallied another win for Ball State with her 800-meter finish with a time of 2:17.97.
Long distance competition for the Cardinals began with junior Ali Bishel's 17:18.15 in the 5,000-meter run which placed her in second. It was Bishel's first appearance for the outdoor season and she set the third best time in the MAC with run.
The meet gets underway with the javelin throw at 6:30 p.m. today and wraps up with the 4x400 meter relay at 1:55 p.m.
