TRACK AND FIELD: Cardinals continue outdoor season at Miami Invitational

The Ball State University track and field team will compete against 12 teams in its second meet of the outdoor season today at the Miami Invitational in Miami, Ohio.

This past weekend Ball State went to the Mike Poehlein Invitational where the Cardinals turned in three first-place times on the score sheet.

Fifth-year senior Amber Williams was one of the three to bring home a winning finish for the Cardinals when she completed the 100-meter dash. Her 12.05 second clock placed Williams in fourth for the 100-meter race in the Mid-American Conference.

Another Cardinal who grabbed a first place was junior Katie Johnson with her 100-meter hurdle time of 14.08.

The blue ribbon duo also made up half of the 4x100 relay team with the efforts of sophomore Ra'Jae Marable and freshman Janae Taylor. The relay took first place with a time of 46.59 to rank second in the MAC.

In other relay events, the 4x400 team crossed the white line with a second place time of 3:52.36. The time of junior Jenna Schmitmeyer, Johnson, sophomore Thekla Lorenz and freshmen Kelsey Stephens is third in the MAC.

The Cardinals will begin the Miami Invitational at 3:30 p.m. with the hammer throw. The meet will continue Saturday.
