Ball State University track and field team member junior Katie Johnson racked up eight of the 30 points for the Cardinals at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational.
The team finished third in the Friday and Saturday meet at Louisville, Ky.
Johnson clocked in a first place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.25. Fifth-year senior Amber Williams trailed Johnson in the race in second. Johnson also earned second place in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:01.79 to give the Cardinals a higher tally for the meet.
Johnson's legs added an additional three points when she contributed to assist in carrying the 4x100. A second place was awarded to the Cardinals with the help of Williams, freshmen duo Kelsey Stephens and Janae Taylor. They completed the relay in 46.94.
In other relays, a combination of sophomore Thekla Lorenz, junior Jenna Schmitmeyer, Taylor and Stephens placed third in the 4x400 at 3:25.84.
Taylor ran a 25.81 in the 200-meter race to give the Cardinals another second place for the invitational.
The 1,500-meter competition was represented by a duo of junior Cardinals, who both finished in the top three. Ali Bishel finished second with a 4:38.10 while Brittany Ade finished with a 4:44.21 for third place.
The Ball State track and field team will challenge its skills next weekend when the team divides in half to compete in two different meets.
