SOFTBALL: Rain washes away potential Ball State loss

Mother nature was on the side of the Ball State University softball team today.

After allowing five runs to Kent State University in the top of the second inning, lightning and rain caused a two-hour delay. Following a walk, hit by pitch and another walk in the bottom of the second, officials called the game.

None of the stats from the game will be kept and the game will not be made up.

The Cardinals finish the weekend with a 3-0 record, which evens their overall record at 16-16 and are in first place in the Mid-American Conference West Division at 6-1. The Cardinals are a half game ahead of Northern Illinois University and Western Michigan University.
