Revolutionary show at Pruis

Rapper, funk band, DJ rock crowd at campus concert

Close to 300 people showed up at Pruis Hall Wednesday night for the Red Revolution concert which lasted about two and a half hours.

Junior Kobei Jensen said he enjoyed the show and was glad a hip-hop show came to campus.

"The event had a great turnout," Jensen said. "Trek was really great. He really tried to get us pumped up. I'd really love to see more hip-hop come to Muncie."

Although many were in attendance, the audience didn't match the more than 400 presale tickets sold.

Senior Craig Furnivall said the concert was good and he liked the acts, but was disappointed with the turnout.

"I think Midwest Hype deserves more of an audience," he said. "This just shows that although some people are into the local music scene, there still isn't enough support."

A Ball State University immersive learning class working through the School of Music organized the show.

Junior AJ Wilson, a member of the group, said he was optimistic about the outcome.

"I think for this being a first time deal, it went really well," he said. "The concert, as far as production, went really well and I'm hoping it'll be much bigger next year."

Midwest Hype, a funk band from La Porte, headlined the event. The band members said for a first time event, it wasn't a disappointment.

"I thought it went really well," lead guitarist George Prellwitz said. "I'd loved to see a lot more dancing, but then again it is a seated place. It was definitely very lively for the environment."

Junior Kristen Sirk said the show started slow but picked up and ended up well.

"Once we started dancing, everyone got into it," Sirk said. "I just love this stuff and I really support immersive learning."
