Relay for Life gets 51 teams for fundraising event

The Ball State University chapter of Relay for Life will take over LaFollette Field and raise money for cancer research.

From Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, more than 400 people divided into 51 teams will be at the event, according to Relay for Life's Web site.

Participants have already raised more than $20,000 for cancer research, according to the site.

One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society's Web site.

More than 3.5 million people will relay across the country to celebrate cancer survivors, according to the site.

The event will last for 18 hours, from 3 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.
