MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: BSU, PSU match to be televised on WIPB

After more than two years, the No. 15 Ball State University men's volleyball team will have a televised home match.

The athletics department announced Tuesday that Ball State's match against No. 7 Penn State University at 7:30 p.m. Friday will air on the Ball State Sports Network.

This is the third time in the last three seasons WIPB has aired a men's volleyball home match. In its last home televised match on WIPB, Ball State rallied from a two-game deficit to defeat then-No. 9 University of the Pacific in March 2007.

Along with it being televised, Friday's match will be webcast online on the athletics department Web site and can be viewed for free.

Ball State and Penn State will play as part of the Don Schondell Challenge, which is named in honor of the orginal Ball State men's volleyball coach.

Ball State (15-8, 6-4 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) enters this non-conference match against the defending NCAA champions after defeating IPFW last weekend. With the win, the Cardinals clinch the No. 3 seed in the MIVA tournament and will have a home quarterfinals match next week.

Penn State (23-3, 12-0 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) clinched its 25th conference regular season earlier this month and is the second highest ranked team Ball State has played this season.

The Nittany Lions have won seven consecutive matches against the Cardinals. In its previous match this season, Penn State won the final two games to defeat Ball State in four games Jan. 23 in University Park, Pa.
