MEN'S TENNIS: Ball State blanks Buffalo in MAC Tournament

Ball State University's men's tennis team defeated the University at Buffalo in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament 4-0 on Thursday in Buffalo, N.Y.

Ball State advances to face No. 1 seed Western Michigan University at 10 a.m. Friday.

The No. 4 seed Cardinals played the Bulls on their home indoor court in Buffalo. Three singles matches did not finish as Ball State had already clinched victory with four points.

Ball State won at No. 2 and 3 doubles for the first point of the match. Senior Jorge Rodriguez won his No. 5 singles match 6-3, 6-4 and freshman Andre Monroy won at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore Eduardo Pavia at No. 1 singles had a 6-4, 6-1 win.

It was the second time the Cardinals defeated the Bulls in Buffalo this season.

Ball State's semifinals rematch with Western Michigan will be a chance for the Cardinals to avenge their 5-2 loss to the Broncos in Muncie two weeks ago.
