Kent State University joined the ranks of Mid-American Conference schools with players selected in the 2009 NFL Draft.
Kent State wide receiver Julian Edelman was selected by the New England Patriots with the 23rd pick of the seventh round, which was pick 232 overall. He was a quarterback for the Golden Flashes but was drafted as a wide receiver.
This past season, Edelman threw for 1,820 yards and ran for 1,370 - both of which were team bests. He accounted for 26 touchdowns, 13 passing and 13 rushing.
Edelman was the ninth MAC player selected in this weekend's Draft.
Ball State University and Western Michigan University each had two players selected in the Draft so far. Northern Illinois University, Ohio University, Temple University and Eastern Michigan University each had a player selected.
